Many of the spices we take for granted have very dark histories. Many a culture were forced into giving up their secrets of where a spice came from. In some cases bloody battles waged over spices such as nutmeg, mace and saffron. Take a trip back in time to learn about the simple beginning of the very complex spice trade.
