Scents of the Season – When you recall the fall and winter holidays, it is likely that you immediately think of a favorite scent. Do the spices of pumpkin pie make you think of Thanksgiving? Maybe a walk in a pine forest conjures up memories of selecting a Christmas tree. From peppermint and ginger, to clove and vanilla, many of the scents you associate with your winter holiday are plant based, yet many of the herbs and spices we take for granted are not from North America. How did they get here? Why do we use them in our celebrations? Find out more about the fascinating journey of plants from around the world to your kitchen. Lots of hands-on and “nose-on” in this presentation!

I have programs for adult groups, such as Garden Clubs, Libraries, Historical Societies, Community Education, Senior Living Communities and many other venues. I also offer programs for scouts and other organized youth groups.
